In an effort to ensure structural safety and maintain urban order, the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB) has begun a comprehensive building control exercise across the Jos Metropolis.

The initiative, aimed at promoting compliance with urban planning regulations, is set to safeguard lives, properties, and the aesthetic integrity of the city.

The JMDB emphasized that the exercise focuses on ensuring that all buildings within the metropolis meet the required safety standards. A statement from the board noted, “Our team of qualified inspectors is visiting various neighborhoods to assess buildings and construction sites.”

As part of the process, property owners and developers are required to present their approved building plans and necessary documentation. The board warned that non-compliant structures would be issued notices, and further actions would be taken to enforce adherence to the city’s building regulations.

“Promoting urban order is critical to maintaining the beauty and functionality of our city,” a spokesperson from the board added, urging residents to cooperate with the inspectors. The exercise also aims to prevent illegal constructions that pose risks to the safety of the community.

The JMDB called for full cooperation from the public, stating, “Together, we can build a safer, more organized, and beautiful Jos Metropolis.”
